CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are looking for the gunman who killed a man and left another injured Monday night in west Charlotte — the second homicide Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives had to investigate on Memorial Day.
Officers were called to the intersection of Rozzelles Ferry Road and Oregon Street just before 10 p.m. and found 18-year-old Daveon Andrews lying in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was found about a block away at the Fast Stop convenience store. Police said he was shot in the leg but was taken to the hospital and would be OK.
Investigators said both Andrews and the other man were shot at the same location but are still working to establish a motive in the shooting.

Detectives marked several scenes in the area with evidence markers and shut down Rozzelles Ferry Road at Lakewood Avenue while they investigated.
Hours later, while authorities were still on scene, shots were fired in the distance.
Police drew their weapons while taking cover, then it was quiet again.
