There are two versions of IELTS. The first one is the academic version, which is meant for the students, who are willing to enroll in universities as well as other institutes of higher education. Moreover, it is also perfect for those doctors and nurses who are desirous to practice in the English speaking nations. Another one is the general training version. It is for those who are planning to undertake non-academic training. Besides, this version is supposed to be suitable for the immigration purposes as well as for the work experience. It has also become a requirement for immigration to Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Most of the British, Australian, Irish, Canadian, New Zealand and South African institutes accept IELTS. In addition, it is also accepted by over 3000 academic institutes of United States and several professional organizations. There are four subtests of IELTS, which include reading, writing, listening and speaking.
