Earlier this year the Garden Grove City Council voted to replace the management for the Strawberry Bowl Festival Amphitheater, where productions of Shakespeare and tribute bands to rock legends have typically held the stage.
The plan set out for the venue included a whole lot of upgrades by the new operators, LFA Group, such as new lighting and sound equipment, with the intention to apply for permits that would allow the sale of adult beverages, and the goal of booking live entertainment such as “indie bands, comedy, and theater,” as well as “corporate meetings/seminars, and special events.”
So Brainiac was intrigued while wandering around the Strawberry Festival on Saturday to spy a poster for what appears to be the first of the indie band shows booked into the 540-seat amphitheater. We were really just looking for a place to sit down and enjoy the Strawberry Royale we’d bought from the booth that benefits Shakespeare Orange County, one of the longtime sub-tenants for the venue, and, well, there it was, as plain as the whipped cream on our berries.
