July 4 party on the pier, new Casa exhibit, shred your documents, and more – Orange County Register

Ocean Festival’s July 4 party on the pier

If you’d like to watch San Clemente’s July 4 fireworks show from seating on the pier near where the fireworks are being launched, now is the time to make reservations.

On Saturday, June 3, from 8 to 9 a.m., ocean festival volunteers will be at the Fisherman’s Restaurant on the pier, selling tickets to the July 4 party. They say the event sells out each year so it is essential to purchase on June 3. Tickets are $65, cash or credit. Proceeds benefit the July 15-16 ocean festival and the festival’s local charities.

The Fisherman’s Restaurant will cater the barbecued chicken and ribs dinner. Questions? Call Lisa Green at 949-878-1273.

Safe document disposal at paper shredding event

Local residents and business owners who want to safely dispose of documents, including material that is sensitive, can attend a free shredding event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3, at the city’s maintenance yard, 380 Avenida Pico.

There are no limits on quantity, and stapled or paper-clipped documents are accepted, the city said in a news release. Not accepted are newspapers, magazines or soiled or wet paper. Questions? Call 949-498-9436.

One-year-old Flannel would love to be your new best friend. When he isn’t playing with his friends in the yard, Flannel loves impromptu cuddle sessions and is a grade-A snuggler. He is a happy little guy who would be suitable for family members of all ages. If you would like to know more about Flannel, call the San Clemente/Dana Point Animal Shelter, at 949-492-1617, or visit him at 221 Avenida Fabricante, San Clemente.(Photo courtesy of San Clemente/Dana Point Animal Shelter)
