Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for the youngster to bolster the Red Devils’ attacking options ahead of next season
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to face some tough competition if they opt to pursue Ajax starlet Kasper Dolberg.
Because in the Europa League final the 19-year-old was reportedly scouted by 30 clubs, including staff from United.
According to Voetbal Primeur, Dolberg was heavily scouted in the final but the forward struggled to make an impact in Stockholm.
The Red Devils comfortably saw off Ajax 2-0 to win the Europa League and secure Champions League football, thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Dolberg has had a terrific season with the Dutch club and has scored 22 goals in all competitions.
But the striker failed to carry his strong form into the final and failed to cause United any problems.
Although scouts who have monitored him throughout the campaign will not have judged him on one performance.
They will have most likely have already made their mind up on the player.
Speaking earlier this month, Dolberg believes a move to either United or Manchester City may be a step too far the Ajax prodigy.
He told FourFourTwo: “No, it’s too big a step to go to City or United now.
“It’s important to keep on playing, as I don’t know what could happen in the future.
“I have not got a dream league. It’s important which kind of club is keen – in terms of playing style and also how it is at the club.
“You look at the whole package.”
