The National Water Sports Centre in Nottinghamshire is opening its doors to local residents to come along and try a new water sport for its flagship Paddle in the Park event.
Paddle in the Park is a weekend of activities, including have a go kayak and canoe sessions, stand up paddleboarding and more water and land activities. There will also be paddle tours and raft racing.
With extreme slalom and freestyle kayaking competitions alongside coaching clinics from world and Olympic champions there will be something for everyone. All abilities are welcome to take part in this extravaganza; from newcomers to the sport to experienced paddlers.
Paddle In The Park is part of National Go Canoeing Week, British Canoeing’s initiative which aims to get everyone out on the water having fun, regardless of ability or age.
It is designed to provide a real focal point to attract new people into the sport, experienced paddles to find new places to paddle and stimulate those who really like a challenge to think big and achieve something special.

During May half-term (27 May – 4 June) there will be events up and down the country for the whole family to go along and get on the water for a big adventure.
It could be your first time picking up a paddle, or your thousandth, there is a way for everyone to join in and there are prizes for the most miles paddled.
The theme this year is the Big Adventure and British Canoeing are looking to get as many people as possible to join in to get to their target of 30,000 miles paddled during the week in either a canoe, kayak, stand up paddle board or any chosen paddlesport.
